1 Feb - the Division was detached from 3rd Army and assigned to the XVI Corps
of the 9th Army in Holland 250 miles to the north.

2-4 Feb - The 250 mile long march to Holland began. The winter of 1944-45 was
the worst in the past 40 years and the roads were icy, resulting in many
accidents as vehicles slid off the road.

8 Feb - received orders to relieve the 137th Inf. Regiment of the 35th Div.
but orders were later postponed for two days and finally cancelled.

17 Feb - received orders to relieve the British 7th Armored Div. (the Desert
Rats) on 19 Feb.

23 Feb - Operation Grenade started. This operation was planned to cross the
Roer River and to clear the area between it and the Rhine River.

26 Feb - CCR leads attack to capture Roermond,
Holland. One platoon of Co. C, 58th AIB is cut off for nearly 24 hours until contact
is made by Co. C, 7th AIB. CCR suffered 64 casualties during the operation.

26 Feb - The 35th Inf. Div. secures a bridgehead across the Roer and the 8th
Armored begins crossing.

27 Feb - CCA crosses the Roer River via the Hilfarth Bridge which had been
captured by the 35th Inf. Div. and headed for the town of Wegberg.

27 Feb - CCB moves through Sittard, Gangelt,Geilenkirchen, Randerath, and
Brachlen to arrive at the Hilfarth Bridge.

27 Feb - 15th Cavalry Group (Mechanized) began relieving CCR in the Hiede
Woods near Roermond and they began moving to the vicinity of Huckelhoven.

28 Feb - CCA tanks and infantry destroy fifteen pillboxes, capture Tetelrath,
and cross the Swalm River.

28 Feb - CCB attacks and captures the towns of Arsbeck and Ober Kruchten.

28 Feb - CCR joins up with CCA and they begin crossing the Roer River and move
to assist the attack on Wegberg.
