S-3 Operations
1 - 31 May 1945


1.

Front Lines at end of period: See overlay, Inclosure Number 1.

Location of troops: See overlay, Inclosure Number 1.

Information of Adjacent Units and Supporting Troops:     None

4.

Operations:

(1)

01 - 06 May 1945 - Patrolling, Screening, and Guarding of important installations conducted in 80th Tank Battalion assigned area.

(2)

07 May 1945 - Patrolling, Screening, and Guarding of important installations continued. 'C' Company 80th Tank Battalion relieved from position and departed for Rhumsprings (766-348) to assume new position as per overlay Hq., CCR dated 5 May 1945.

08 May 1945 - 'A', 'B', & 'D' Companies relieved of guarding of important installations, Patrolling, and Screening and departed for new area as per overlay Hq., CCR dated 5 May 1945. Headquarters and Service Companies relieved of Guard at 1745 by 331st Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division.

09 May 1945 - At 0900, remainder of Battalion departed Goslar and closed into new area Hattorf, Germany (727-416). Local security set up upon arrival.

10 - 14 May 1945 - Patrolling and Guarding of important installations conducted. Maintenance carried out during this period.

(6)

15 - 31 May 1945 - Patrolling, Guarding of Installations and Local Security continued. Basic subjects were included in daily training schedules. Special subjects listed in daily training schedules were - Firing of all types of small arms, 30 caliber Machine Gun Firing, Instructions on T 26 Tank and 90mm Gun, Manipulating Firing , 75mm & 76mm Direct Fire, Orientation, Review of Bazooka, Lectures on Veneral Disease by Battalion Surgeon, Discussion of the G. I. Bill of Rights and Organized Athletics. Maintenance was conducted throught the entire period.
