1 Jan - began moving across the English Channel, landing at Le Harve, France.

4-7 Jan - moved across France to Bacqueville just north of Rouen.

8-10 Jan - moved 175 miles from Bacqueville to vicinity of the cathedral city
of Rheims.

11 Jan - attached to 3rd Army under Gen. George A. Patton.

12 Jan - moved 105 miles from Rheims to vicinity of Pont-a-Mousson, France in
anticipation of German attack on Metz.

14 Jan - the 148th signal Company, the last unit across the English Channel,
joins the division. They had been stranded on a ship in the channel until 11
Jan.

17 Jan - Cleared mines and removed dead, both American and German, from
Pont-a-Mousson area.

19 Jan - CCA began battle indoctrination and are ordered to attack German
towns of Nennig, Berg, and Sinz in a joint attack with 94th Inf. Div.

22 Jan - CCA units launch attack on Nennig in conjunction with units from the
302nd Inf. Reg. of the 94th Inf. Div.

24 Jan - Nennig is captured and cleared during a blinding snowstorm and bitter
cold.

25 Jan - the attack on Berg is begun and the town is cleared by noon except
for a strongpoint in Schloss-Berg which was captured that evening.

26 Jan - the attack on Sinz began in the morning. Engineers build a treadway
bridge over an anti-tank ditch in the evening.

27 Jan - the battle for Sinz continues throughout the day. CCA is relieved
after midnight and ordered to rejoin the Division.

28 Jan - CCA returns from assisting 94th Div. and goes into reserve.
Casualties were 23 killed and 268 wounded. Six tanks were destroyed and four
were disabled.
