INTERVIEW

Record of Events section, Morning Report, Company C, 18th Tank Battalion, 8th Armored Division, covering the periods 1 - 5, and 9 - 11 March 1945.

1 March '45 left Wegberg, Germany, at 1600. Objective was town of Lobberich, Germany.

2 March '45 left Lobberich, Germany, at 1000 enroute to objective Wasktendonk, Germany; contacted enemy and engaged the enemy at 1530 with the 2d section of the 3d platoon in the attack in support of A Troop of 88th Rcn. Withdrew at 1630. At 1700 the 3d platoon attacked with one platoon of C Company 7th Inf in support. Objective obtained at 1730.

3 March '45 Company moved back to Wankum, Germany, at 0900. Bivouaced for rest and reorganization.

5 March '45 left Wankum, Germany, at 0945, by convoy arrived at Aldekerk, Germany, at 1205. Distance traveled 11 miles.

10 March '45 left Bauern, Germany at 0530, enroute to engage the enemy at Huck, Germany, with the 1st and 2d platoon in the attack in support of L Co 3d Bn 134th Inf Regt. Objective Huck, Germany, was taken at 0600. L Co 3d Bn 134 Inf Regt supported by 1st and 2d platoon of Co jumped off for 2d objective at Drupt, Germany, at 0610. At 0600 the 3d Platoon left Bauern, Germany, and joined I Co of 3d Bn 134th Inf Regt in reserve. Drupt, Germany, taken at 0800. At 0810 1st and 2d Platoon in support of L Co 3d Bn 134th Inf Regt attacked and took Berth, Germany, at 1100. 3d Platoon moved up to Borth, Germany, in reserve with I Co 134th Inf Regt at 1100. At 1130 I Co 3d Bn mounted on deck of tanks, jumped off for final objective Buderich, Germany. Tanks were stopped by anti-tank ditch, at which time I Co 3d Bn 134th Inf dismounted and took the last objective at 1600. 3d platoon moved back at 2000 at 18.2-35.1) in support of L Co 3d Bn 134th Inf Regt in reserve. Engineers completed the crossing of anti-ditch at 2030 and 1st and 2d platoon moved in to the objective and set up a perimeter defense.

11 March '45 at 1030 the company was detached from the 134th Inf Regt and attached to CCB 8th Armd Div for march return to starting point. Arrived at Hinsbeck, Germany, at 2300 for rest and reorganization.
