1. 8 AD O/I #17 CCA: Atk E fr pr assy area at H-hour (to be announced) along following axis: Hunxe (A328388); Dorsten (A468405); Kolbrassert (A550400); Lenkerbeck (A600411); Erkenschwick (A665392); Dattein (A730400); Lunen (A850340); Pelkum (B008378); Nord (B135400). Seize and hold crossing over Rhein-Herne, Emscher-Zweigkanal Canal between A705345 and junction of canal with Lippe R. Continue atk to control road fr Hamm to Soest.

0600 - CCA cleared bridge at 0455.

0800 - CCA Location of front lines 441366.
0915 - Ln O reports ldg elms CCA 500 yds N & NE 441366. Meeting s/a fire from SP or tk gun not located.
0925 - 7th AIB reports flank protection recd s/a fire at 428367 at 0845. Enemy AT gun at 433360.
0950 - CCA: Enemy tk NE of Imloh 335367 harrassing troops. Mines and increased s/a fire being met. 24 PWs taken. 4 tks & 4 SPs withdrew to Dorsten.
1000 - CCA in Imloh 437366.
1000 - XVI C - Your leading elms firing on adv elms 30 Inf Div at 433330.
1250 - CCA: TF Poinier delayed by bridge at 446372. Receiving arty fire.
1315 - G-3 to CCA: You'll have 8 aircraft today.
1950 - G-3 to XVI C - CCA at 439400 & 458390.
2000 - Div Arty - CCA held up by blown bridge 4439.
3. G-3 Report CCA (392367): Moved from Assy position vic Hunxe and passed thru elms of 30 Inf Div and adv E and NE in Z.

29 March

1. 8 AD O/I #18 CCA: Continue atk to E along axis: Lenkerbeck (A600411); Erkenschwick (A665392); Dattein (A730400); Lunen (A850340); Pelkum (B008378); Nord (B135400). Seize and hold crossings over Zweigkanal between A715360 and junction of Zweigkanal with Lippe R. Continue atk to control road fr Hamm to Soest.
2. G-3 Journal 1940 - CCA called - Elms delayed by bridge out at 511365.
2000 -CCA: TF Poinier held up by a crater in road W of stream at 496360. Goodrich held up by Humanoff's clm at 491364. Humanoff held up by bridge out at 511364.
3. G-3 Report CCA (4430): Jumped off in atk to Dorsten at 0400A. First elms entered Dorsten at 0630A and a bn occupied town at 0730A. Town cleared at 0800A. Continued on to present pos against determined resistance.


30 March

1. 8 AD O/I #19 CCA: Be prepared to pass 75 Inf Div thru at 310600 Mar 45. Assemble in vic of 5036 after relief. Relieve CCB in Dorsten 301800 Mar 45. Release 2d Bn 290 Inf Regt to 75 Inf Div when 75 Inf Div passes thru. Be prepared to exploit success of 75 Inf Div.
2. G-3 Journal 0830 - CCA - TF Goodrich jumped off 0800 and is now 1 km from Polsum.
0925 - CCA (msg) 7th AIB being held up at last reported location by mines, hvy arty, s/a and HV wpns fire. Goodrich in process of taking - being met with hvy arty & AW wpns fire.
1115 - CCA - TF Poinier at 523393 - TF Goodrich at outskirts Polsum.
1410 - Goodrich (msg) Reached main crossroad where still receiving heavy fire (in Polsum).
1630 - CCA - Our advances stopped by very heavy AT fire. However at 1315, it was reptd enemy fire diminishing in Polsum.
3. G-3 Report CCR: (A476381): Moved from positions S and E of Dorsten to present positions. Heavy resistance encountered in Polsum, occupied at 1630. Bridging operations vic Wieskamp opposed by enemy high velocity AT fire.

2. G-3 Journal 0730 - Col Brooks Ex O CCA - "Outfit went thru as planned. Not too good coordination but from all reports they are going thru. Don't have too good liaison up front but they are going thru. Bridge could not be built last nite but arrangements have been made to build when they are ready for it." (Referring to 75th Inf Div)
3. G-3 Report CCA: (A474380) Maintained positions in and S of Dorsten.

1. 8 AD O/I #21 CCA: Mvs from present area at 031500B Apr 45 and atk S in Z (overlay).
2. G-3 Journal 0900 - G-3 to XIX C - TWX (CCA at 3605780, B623745, B635727, B685685).
2150 - CCA to G-3: CG; CCA sends request to CG 8 AD to have CCR take action against town 3 mi NW of Eikeloh. Are receiving s/a and AT fire fr that vic on the town we are not attacking.
2220 - CG to CCA & CCR: Prepare to defend to the S & W.
3. G-3 Report CCA (Enroute): Moved from Selm to Eikelch (B4636). Now enroute to atk on left sector of Div Z.

2. G-3 Journal 0145 - CCA: There has been little change. Goodrich is going down to the original direction _____. Poinier is still wkg in that town (Erwitte). Some men in that town, not a div. Some AT, going a little rough. Poinier wkg in Erwitte on main rd from Eikeloh going SW. Goodrich wkg S fr Eikelch.
1210 - G-3 to XIX Corps rptd that TFG had cleared town of Berge - Rcn fr TFG at 455275.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B4636) Continued atk S and W. Encountered determined resistance in Erwitte (B4235) and Berge (B4430). Atkd successfully and continued on mission.


5 April

1. 8 AD O/I #22 CCA: Atk in Z. Mop up.
2. G-3 Journal 1700 - Elm CCA at 365237, 375265 at 1545 hrs.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B460294) Continued Atk to the E. Took approximately 10 towns meeting light to moderate resistance.


6 April

1. O/I #23 CCA (Reinf): Atk and clean out Z.
2. G-3 Journal 0900 - CCA - TFP took town of Neuengeseke.
1500 - G-3 to XIX C: TFG in Eilinghausen.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B459293) Continued atk in Z successfully. Holding positions at close of period (overlay). 194 Glider Inf Regt crossed Mohne R, seized Kallenhardt (B4017) and repulsed enemy counterattack.


7 April

3. G-3 Report CCA: (B459293) Continued Atk in Z successfully. Holding positions (overlay) at close of period. 194 Glider Inf Regt advanced and cleared the town of Suttrop (B446175) and Warstein (B430165).


8 April

1. 8 AD O/I #24 CCA: Assemble vic Bilme (see overlay). Clean out pocket between Ruhr & Mohne Rivers W of Lake Talsperre withing Z. Prepare to pass thru CCB on Div O.
2. G-3 Journal 1145 - CCA Maj Sheridan - Bridge over lake which they were relieving CCR was blown on S end as they took over N end.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B275220) Outpost S flank Div Z from B420215 to B 246210. Co A 53 Engr Bn atched in place to TFF for operations only. 405th AFA Bn reverted to control CCR. 194 Glider Inf Regt and 681 FA BN atched TFF. (TFF is Task Force Faith of 95th).


9 April

1. O/I #25 CCA: Prepare to pass thru CCB in Z on Div O.
2. G-3 Journal 1020 - TFG leaving Vierhausen to skirt woods W of there.
1300 - TFG pushing down into pocket. Gone thru woods on E. Meeting opposition on W.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B129297) Cleaned out pocket on S flank of Div Z from 1322 to 1618 to 1922 encountering considerable arty fire. Upon completion of assigned mission moved to assembly area S of Werl. Prepared to relieve CCB on Div O.


10 April

1. 8 AD O/I #26 CCA: Prepare to relieve to CCB in Z and atk thru to seize Aim Line by 110800B Apr if not already taken by CCB.

3. G-3 Report CCA: (B101279) Made preparations to effect relief of CCB and atk in Z.


11 April

1. O/I #27 CCA: Continue atk to Bd between 8 AD and Task Force Twaddle.
2. G-3 Journal 0715 - CCA - TFG & TFP jumped off at 0630.
0800 - CCA - TFP has 2 small elms edge of town (Unna). Goodrich ldg elm even with factory.
0905 - G-3 to G-2 (msg from CCA): Our units are receiving s/a, mortar and arty fire from Unna. Two small elms of CCA are now in town. Nature of resistance not known.
1246 - G-3 to CCA: Continue attack in Z. L/I and overlay to follow.
3. G-3 Report CCA: (B101279) Relieved CCB vic Unna (970265) and attacked from the S & E. Successfully entered and cleared town against heavy resistance. At close of period continuing atk in Z to S.


12 April

1. 8 AD O/I #28 CCA: Secure S flank Div area in sector (Frondenberg inc CCA) Responsible for police of Unna.

3. G-3 Report CCA: (B012283) Defended sector. Performed maintenance of equipment in preparation for further action. 275 AFA Bn detached & atched CCR.


13 April

3. G-3 Report CCA; (X919005) Reld in sector of defense by elms 95 Div. Moved to new area vic Wofenbuttel (X919005). Closed approx 140200.


14 April

1. 8 AD O/I #30 CCA: (1) Provide all-around security in assigned zone and clean out any by-passed enemy troops that may be left.
(2) Attach one (1) light tank platoon to Div Tns upon arrival of Tns in their assy area.
(3) Be responsible for administration and police of the following allied PW camps:

1. 8 AD O/I #31 CCA: Will relieve 30 Inf Div without delay. Continue adv E in Z. Prepare plans to atk Blankenburg (D220600) with assistance of 58 AIB. Coordinate with CCB.
