AFTER ACTION REPORT FOR FEBRUARY
OB Team No. 70

During the period from 1 to 20th of February, 8 Armd Div was not committed and the time was used keeping up with the enemy situation in general on all fronts. Numerous intelligence publications were read and information obtained from them was filed.

When the 8 Armd Div relieved 7 British Armd Div in XVI Corps area on 21 February, all detailed enemy information was obtained from the OB files of that Corps. However, due to the long period of quietness in that sector, a complete picture of the disposition and strength of the enemy could not be obtained.

History and composition of all enemy divisions facing U.S. Ninth Army was published in Annexes to G-2 Periodic Reports, along with overlays showing approximate enemy disposition and divisional boundaries.

Regt HUBNER of 8 Para Division had been defending the ROERMOND area for some time but was known to be pulling out of that area before we relieved 7 Br Armd Div. Only after PWs were taken from the I, II, III Para Lehr Training Gruppen, were their presence in that sector discovered. An interesting fact was learned about the enemy in the employment of miscellaneous elements to plug in gaps in the front lines while divisions are shuffled in the rear.

After the attack started in the ROERMOND area, the OB team was kept busy translating captured enemy maps and documents. Some tactical maps were translated and reproduced.
